You can buy sauces ready-made, but it’s always better to prepare them yourself. Some good vegetables, fruits, some herbs and spices, and yours, homemade ketchups and chutneys. At the taste level, there is not even a possible comparison. And it is also very economical.

Today I suggest you prepare a wonderful tomato chutney. This one, you tell me about it! It will be perfect for your next barbecue and will go very well with all your grills.

Finally, the preparation of this chutney is very simple. The main thing in the preparation is to simmer for a long time. It almost happens by itself.
We like it when it stings. So I put a little whole red pepper. If you prefer sweetness, you can simply leave it out, and prefer a few peppercorns.

Tomato chutney:

500g tomatoes
125g brown sugar
3 tbsp cider vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 piece of ginger
1 clove of garlic
1 small red pepper (according to taste)

Boil a pot of water.
Make two slits on the top of the tomatoes, then put them for 1 minute in boiling water.
Pass them under cold water, then remove the skin.
Cut them in half and remove the seeds.

Place coarsely chopped tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, grated ginger and garlic in a small saucepan.
Split the pepper lengthwise and remove the seeds.
Put it in the pan.

Let everything simmer for about 40 minutes.
Remove the chilli and blend using the soup plunger.
Let simmer for a few more minutes.

Pour into a jar and keep cool.

For a change, you can make this chutney with a variety of green tomatoes, such as green zebra.
