I have always enjoyed accompanying a dessert or a coffee with a little butter. This is definitely one of my favorite cookies. I discovered a few years ago that you could very easily prepare them at home. It’s really easy, and it’s delicious.
The ideal is to have a cookie cutter that has the shape of these cookies. You can find them quite easily. You can also roll out the dough and cut it into rectangles. There won’t be any chewy corners, but the taste will be the same.
Small homemade butter:
50ml orange juice
80g brown sugar
1 pinch of baking powder
1 pinch of fleur de sel
Heat the orange juice, the butter cut into small pieces and the sugar over very low heat.
Once the butter has melted, turn off the heat and let cool for about ten minutes.
Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix until you get a ball of dough.
Film and chill for at least an hour.
Preheat the oven to 170°C.
Lightly flour the work surface and roll out the dough thinly.
Dip cookie cutter in flour and cut out cookies.
If the dough does not fall, pass the point of a knife in an angle. With these quantities, you will get about 20 cookies.
Place cookies on a baking sheet.
Brush them lightly with milk.
Bake for 15/20 minutes.
They should be nicely golden. If necessary, turn the plate in the middle of cooking.
Finally: you don’t have to use orange juice. Water can also do the trick. in this case, add a flavor, such as vanilla, or lemon or almond flavouring.
