Puff pastry braid with apples, like a strudel

A few days ago I was packing a chocolate bar. There you go, I didn’t need more to want to pack everything! In fact, I fell in love with this little folding. It must be said that it is super smart and very practical.

Apples, grapes and cinnamon… There you have it, flavors that take us east.
And hop, I wrap it all in a puff pastry. A band on the left, a band on the right… The braid is not more complicated than that and the effect is guaranteed.

Crispy and richly filled, this braid is perfect for warming up.

Apple Puff Braid:

3 small apples (Gala)
40g raisins
50g brown sugar
25g butter
1 tsp cinnamon
1 puff pastry
1 egg yolk
chopped almonds

Soak the grapes in a little hot water for at least 20 minutes.

Cut the apples into cubes.

Melt the butter in a skillet, then add the apples and sugar.
Sauté over medium heat for about 5 minutes.
Add the drained raisins and cinnamon and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.

Let cool.

Preheat the oven to 180°C.

Unroll the puff pastry and place the filling in the center.
Cut strips of about 2 cm on both sides.
Fold in the ends, then alternate with a strip on each side.

Brush the top with egg yolk and sprinkle with almonds.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.

Serve warm or cold, with a little heavy cream.

To finish: it is a perfect cupcake for 4 or 5 people. It is imperative to consume it the same day, when the dough is very crispy.
