Blood Orange Sangria

Blood Orange Sangria

I’m crazy about blood oranges. Besides, before the season ended, I put several kilos in the fridge. It’s in salad I prefer them, simply cut into thin slices, with a little honey. I could eat it every day!

In honor of this long weekend, I offer you a “sangria” with white wine and blood oranges. This is the kind of appetizer that I love. It takes very little time to prepare it and it is always very convivial. This version is particularly nice.

I prepared a small amount. The intention was above all to finish an opened bottle of white wine. We can of course do more when there are many of us.

Blood Orange Sangria:

400 ml of white wine (Vernaccia di San Gimignano)
150 ml blood orange juice (3)
50ml Grand Marnier
40ml sugar syrup
1/2 Ceylon cinnamon stick
1 blood orange

Mix the white wine, orange juice, Grand Marnier and sugar syrup.
Add a few slices of orange.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Serve well chilled.

To finish: instead of cinnamon, you can choose to add a star anise.
And instead of Grand Marnier, you can use Cointreau.

You can use commercial cane syrup.
You can also boil 50 ml of water and 50 g of sugar. Allow to cool before using.

I wish you a good Easter weekend!
